Hyppig inntak av smertestillende midler mot migrene eller tensjonshodepine kan medføre kronisk daglig hodepine
Medikamentindusert hodepine kan oppstå ved bruk av ethvert smertestillende middel, men hyppigst ved bruk av kombinasjonspreparater
Eneste mulige behandling er bråseponering av alle smertestillende midler under et støttende regime og med senere iverksetting av profylakse
For å unngå medikamentindusert hodepine bør anfallsbehandling ikke gis mer enn to dager per uke, og kombinasjonspreparater, særlig med koffein, bør unngås
