Siden disse stoffene ikke brytes ned, men tydeligvis bioakkumulerer, viser erfaringene her at de utgjør en eksistensiell trussel. Dette er helt som forventet om man hadde utført en risikovurdering basert på minimal informasjon, slik vi hadde før annen verdenskrig da produksjonen begynte. I dag utsettes reguleringer for å beskytte økonomiske interesser og bedrifter som er avslørt i å underslå fare- og risikoinformasjon, noe som er straffbart i USA (1, 2). Man behøver ikke all denne informasjonen for å forstå at streng regulering haster, man behøver bare ha fulgt med i kjemitimen i ungdomsskolen. Produsenten skulle ha dokumentert at bruken har lav risiko, men risikovurderingen i henhold til produktkontrolloven (3) skjer visst opp ned. Myndighetene i Norge har jobbet med regulering i snart 30 år, uten at det gir særlige resultater (4). Noen som ønsker endring?
